Recalled after routine mammogram

As I am typing this I am sobbing. I have been called back today after a routine mammogram 3 weeks ago. I really thought I was ok. I have talked to a Breast Care Nurse who was very nice but I just don’t know what to do. Thank you in advance of any advice.

  • Hi Leicslady welcome to the forum.

I also was called back after routine mammo with a biopsy and ultrasound done. Waiting for the results is absolutely agonising but you're doing right thing - concentrate on going away and enjoying your time away. Main thing is you're on the radar and in the system so whatever it is, it'll be dealt with.

Please do keep us posted and go do things for you and what you enjoy. Don't feel guilty at all - about time we claim some part of our lives just for us. There's alot of support and experience on here so do remember you are not alone in this. Keep going and fingers crossed for next week.x

  • Hi Jbains

Thank you so much for replying to me. It seems such a long time to wait. I am trying to stay positive as much for everyone else as for me. I am already finding this site a support and am grateful for any advice I am given. I will let you know how I get on

    Take care x

  • Well that’s the first stage done. This is the worst bit now, waiting for the results but you’re doing the right thing. Going away for a few days should be mentally relaxing and hopefully you’ll feel less drained when you get back.

Feeling drained is fairly normal, the constant ups and downs of hospital visits, tests and the sheer hassle of organising life around it all is tiring. Give yourself a bit of wriggle room.

  • Hello

I like that wriggle room. Thank you. Everyone has been so kind x

    Take care

  • Good morning. Hope you’re OK and coping with the wait.

I’ve sent you a friend request if you ever want to talk privately.

  • Thank you to you all.  It has been good news.  The mammogram I had routinely showed a change from previous ones.  They wanted to get it checked out and after two biopsies they can confidently say that there is no problem.  I am now going back to routine 3 year mammograms.  I wish you all the luck in the world all of you with your cancer journey.  I can totally sympathise with anyone who has to wait for results.  I was so nervous this afternoon I thought I was going to pass out and burst into tears.

With love and best wishes xxx

    Hi Leicslady,

This is great news and is something we don't see often enough on this site. Continue to have your routine 3 year mammograms and I hope, for your sake, that they continue to be clear.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Amazing news! That's really great and hope it may long continue. The results waiting is horrible but when you get a positive result it just becomes a distant memory. So go live, love and laugh to the extreme!

  • Hi there!

I have been recalled for an appt tomorrow after a routine breast screening just over a week ago. I have read through this thread and just wanted to say it's reassuring to know that there's such a lovely place for people with concerns to come to. Thank you! The thing I'm finding hardest is not letting on to my children (16yo girl and 20yo boy) or my 85yo mum that I've had a recall. No point in worrying them. My husband is coming with me.

  •

    Hi Bemahan,

A very warm welcome to our community. You have probably been recalled to get the results of your breast screening last week. I am glad to hear that your husband is going with you.

It is so hard trying to react as if nothing is amiss when you are so anxious yourself. Once you know exactly what you are facing, you will find it better to let the rest of your family know. Life becomes so much easier when you all face it together and, can talk openly about eveything.

I hope that all goes well tomorrow.

Please let us know how you get on. You will find this site a great help and, we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
