Hi Homebird, I've been through this over the past 18 months with my 72 year old husband and his lung cancer.  I've kept a blog each day to see what was happening and infection is one concern that we had during chemo.  Make sure everything is clean and hands washed frequently.   I stopped anyone that wasn't well themselves,  even family from coming to see him and if we went out we stayed in the car.  Prevention is better than cure and it worked for us.  I took vitamins and ate well and never mixed with friends if they had a cough etc.  It's hard but we got through it.  Any problems we called out a GP and liaised with our Mc Millan nurses.  Chemo finished a year ago, 20 sessions of radiotherapy and he's doing OK.  So don't despair,  it's not all bad news, you just have to be strong and not let others say what's best for him, you know him well and will be his best bet when it comes to looking after him.  If you want you can come on my private site or look back at our experience of going through the process.  Good luck to you both.  Carol

Went to the hospital today and discussed treatment. All being well treatment will start next Tuesday. The staff there are really lovely and we came away feeling quite upbeat.  Let's get this started.
