Exercise with ET

I asked my consultant if it was ok to still exercise with ET and he said yes, exercise helps keep your blood pumping round your body! Last year I was put on just aspirin, but unfortunatley had to go onto chemo in April this year! I feel fine and I train really hard at the gym. Is there a limit to how much exercise you should do? I love it and work really hard and do not want to stop, it helps with energy levels as I also suffer with under active thyroid!  I am only 48!

  • Hello Lisabag,

You did the right thing to check with your consultant first and it's great that exercise is helping you feel good and energized at the moment. In terms of how much exercise you should do, it might be worth getting in touch with your consultant again just to say that you train really hard at the gym and to ask whether there is a limit as to how much you should be doing at the moment. Your consultant knows you and your condition very well and will be best placed to give you advice on this.

I hope others with ET will be along soon and that they will talk to you about their exercise habits whilst living with ET. We have had many members post on our forum who have had an ET diagnosis, for example [@lennie1980]‍ , [@Mycancerconcern1]‍ , [@JanetRH]‍ to name just a few and I hope they will come and share their experience with you.

Our nurses are also just a free phone call away if you ever wanted to talk things through with them. You can ring them on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,
