Hi, new here. Have stage 4 lung cancer. Never smoked.Just searching for anything and understanding.
Hi Charlie,
Welcome to the club that no-one wants to join!
I'm sure you'll already have had your share of people saying "Really, but you don't smoke!" as if you didn't know that already! They mean well but it can get annoying after a while.
Have you had chance discuss your options with your medical team yet?
Cheers
Dave
Hello Charlie59 and so sorry about your diagnosis. I was recently looking at the MacMillan website which states that one lung cancer patient in ten has never smoked. I realise this information doesn't help you at all in your situation but just wanted you to know you have not been singled out! Have you had the opportunity to sit down with your medical team to talk about what is going to be done and what may happen? Also do you have support from family and friends? There is information on this website also about lung cancer so I attach it in case this answers in any way the understanding you are seeking. But please do come back and talk about what is happening and how you are feeling if you would like to do this. There are quite a few people people on this website who have experience of living with lung cancer - either themselves or a loved one - and it is not all doom and gloom (though obviously it is not great!) and I hope that some of them will come along and share their experiences with you. Hi Charlie, I've been caring for my husband who was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer a year gone March. We've battled through chemo and radiotherapy and although incurable we have managed to halve the tumour and he was a smoker so it's not all doom and gloom. We took it a day at a time and if it wasn't good we stayed home, if he had a good day we lived our lives. I've written a blog each day showing the highs and lows of living with cancer. Make use of friends, keep your family updated, the worst thing is everyone guessing what's going on. We have two grown up daughter's and three beautiful grand children . They've all been here all week and we've enjoyed a normal week of giggles and company although we're now exhausted! ! You can chat to me on Stay Strong if you want. Good luck Charlie.
