Lynch syndrome

Ho everyone, my mum had Lynch syndrome when I was little and so did one of my aunties, they both had hysterectomies. One of my other aunties has just been diagnosed with Lynch syndrome and needs an emergency hysterectomy  and we’ve been told it’s hereditary and my gp has advised me to get tested, has anyone else had anything similar happen and what we’re the outcomes please

  • Welcome to our friendly forum Catherine

I am sorry to hear your mum and two of your aunties had Lynch Syndrome and had to have hysterectomies. I hope you will get to talk to others here who have been through the testing process for Lynch Syndrome and that they will soon be along to answer any questions you may have and to tell you more about their individual outcomes. I remember writing to someone here just a few days ago whose username was incidentally [@Lynchsyndrome]‍ and who was about to go through genetic testing and is I think still waiting for the results. You can read her story here and respond if you wish. If you type "Lynch Syndrome" in our forum search, you will be able to see past threads on this topic and select the ones you wish to engage with.

I hope you will soon get talking to others here who have been tested for Lynch Syndrome and who have a family history that is similar to yours. Should you want to discuss anything with our nurses, you can ring them on this free number if you live in the UK 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,
