Hi everyone, I joined this group because I want to be able to support my wife who has just started her journey, its good that this forum exists as I can pop in here 24/7 and ask questions and hopefully advice. I do not always know the right questions to ask until after a visit at oncology and sometimes do not want to ask questions at the time of the visit for fear of upsetting my wife, I have the contact numbers of her support nurses and I know that I can call them anytime which is really good but I really do not know what to expect as my wifes journey continues, I want to be there for her and give her the support she needs outside of the medical care. My wife up until now is a very healthy 66 and I am 62, we love travel and spending time on our allotment, we have no children. We have had three visits to the local oncology unit, the first, the referral to oncology was quite a shock as she had recently undergone cataract replacement and we thought the poor recovery was due to this, it seems not, it was at this time we found out that she had some sort of cancer in her brain, the second visit was a full body scan and the last was with the consultant and nurse to be told that my wife also has lung cancer, as it is very early days in my wife's diagnosis we are now waiting for an appointment for the lung biopsy, needless to say we are both in quite a state of shock. - Just hope you guys do not mind me dropping by when the need arises...
