Leukaemia

I received a letter from the hospital today with an appointment date to see my hematologist which I’ve been doing on & off for a year or so because my bone marrow is producing to many white blood cells & I have been taken aspirin to control it. The doctor said some time ago that when I turn 60 I will take a different medication to control my problem. To my shock in with the letter is 10 more pages Headed We are Macmillan Cancer support. Explaining all the side effects of tablet form chemotherapy & that I have leukaemia. I’m in total shock & disbelief that any of this wasn’t explained to me before plus receiving the letter on a Saturday I have no one to talk to. Well that’s a snippet of what’s going on in my life at the moment.

  • Hi there .... and welcome ... if l were you I'd write down any questions that are confusing you....

In that McMillan cancer report will be their helpline , and if you give them a ring Monday and tell them your worries, they may have more info .. or if you have phone number of your Dr that you saw and ask them to explain those things worrying you ...

You say you have a lot going on at the moment and no one to chat too ... you can always put worries on here, we can't take them away, but we can listen ....  your not alone, I'm always on here most every day, if you need a shoulder to lean on ...  take care ... Chrissy x
