Hi Mushti,
I'm glad our members have made you feel welcome and that you feel comfortable chatting about how you really feel here. I hope you continue to do so and that all goes well at your appointment with the surgeon tomorrow :)
Kind regards,
Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
Good luck tomorrow....
we are all there with you.
Hi Mushti,
I have only just come across your post and wanted to say that I hope all went well today. Have you come to any decision about the lobectomy?
Don't forget to let us know how you got on. We are all here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Hi Jolamine
Very very kind of you to pick up on my post and remember my situation. Thankyou .
Surgeon was great- calm, respectful and human. Told me the decision is mine but when I asked what he would recommend for his Mum he said surgery. So.........
I feel fine now. I will NOT feel fine afterwards and my lung function will be reduced further. I love my job and I love my independence. But wtf.
I am so angry this has happened but will take a ring in my nose and do what I have to do.
Ever tried, ever failed, no matter
Try again, fail again, fail better
Hi Mushti,
I'm glad to hear that you've got a good and approachable surgeon. It is so important when dealing with something as major as this that you have complete trust in your surgeon. Did he discuss SABR (stereotactic ablative radiotherapy) with you? It is still early days for this and there are more tests being undertaken, but it seems to be faring well in comparison to lobectomy.
I presume that you are going with his recommendation? I fear that you are in a catch 22 situation - damned if you do and damned if you don't. Your lung function may be slightly reduced with surgery , but it may be dramatically reduced without surgery.
I don't blame you for feeling angry. You have every reason to, but don't let this overwhelm you. What you need to do now is to accept your diagnosis and to move forward. Anger won't help you with this, but perserverence and positivity will.
I am thinking of you and hoping that you reach the right solution for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
