    Oh Janey,

You are going through a trying time. They say that we only get foisted with as much as we can cope with and that somehow or other, we find the strength to deal with it, but I sometimes wonder.

I am so very sorry to hear of you loss and offer my sincere sympathy. I am in a similar position to you with relatives. I lost both of my parents, several family members and friends to cancer and have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 8 years myself. I am also currently caring for my 94 year old mother-in-law who is receiving end of life care at home, my 97 year old father-in-law and my husband who has recently been diagnosed with heart failure.

Coping with all of this at once is just impossible. Try to deal with life in bite sized chunks. Don't look further than the day ahead. It seems so cruel to see a wee one like your new granddaughter having heart troubles, but there is a lot that can be done, once she is a little older and better able to undergo surgery. It is almost as hard to see your parents at the other end of the scale and I do feel for you. Do you have have family help and support to care for your parents, or are you doing everything yourself?

You haven’t really had time to come to terms with the death of your husband, especially when you didn’t even get much notice that he was ill.

I am thinking of you and praying that you get the strength you need to see this all through.

Please keep in touch. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
