Hi
just joined the group. So stressed as awaiting results. Is there anyone also having the same problems
I had a mole removed 7 and a half weeks ago . Was told it will take 3 weeks for results , at 4 weeks I rang the dermatologist department to be told it can take 6 weeks but to ring the following week and she will check again . I rang the following week to be told the results are back waiting to be reviewed by my consultant but should hear soon . 2 weeks have since passed . I have now rang again to be told they are waiting on a secondary report from "out of trust" . Lady couldn't or wouldn't elaborate on what this means . In my heart and mind I feel if it was nothing then surly I would have heard by now . I mean what is a secondary report for ?? A treatment plan ? A second opinion .
Im going out of my mind with worry and anxiety. I totally understand where u are coming from . I thought no news was good news but now with them saying about a secondary report my anxiety has reached a new high .
I wish u the best and hope you have a good support network around you
Hi Rossco,
A very warm welcome toour forum.
I am sorry to hear that it is taking so long for your biopsy results to come back. I was told that mine would take 4 weeks, then got an appointment for 3 months. I was back at the hospital to get stitches removed the following week and mentioned this to the nurse who was removing them. She told me that my surgeon was in the clinic that day and that she would have a word with him. He then phoned his secretary to find that the results were already back and gave me the results there and then.
Waiting times seem to vary throughout the country and depend upon Covid incidences as well as staff availability. Chances are that some of the MDT (multi-disciplinary team) who normally review your results were on holiday over Easter, which may account for some of the delay. I am not a doctor, so don't know why they are waiting on a secondary report. This is always a worrying time. In my experience, the speed with which you get your results has no bearing on the outcome.
I sincerely hope that all goes well for you and that you hear soon. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
