hi rictina. in 2017 i had grade 3 breast cancer in right breast i had 6 lots of chemo and lymph nodes removed it was such a shock and like you i couldn't take it all in,  its such a rollercoaster,  but now 16 months  I've noticed last week my left breast is very tender and feels slightly bigger than it did last week so i went to my g.p and she's referring me back to the breast clinic, i never thought it was possible to be back here only 16 months later but having speaking to other ladies on here it is possible.... the ladies on here will help you alot they are always here if you need any advice or just a chat . please keep us updated on your treatment and i wish you the best of luck 

hi I’m new to this I’m 43 been having a sore left breast thought it wAs hormonal then I found a lump got sent for a mammogram then got told they saw a change in my left breast I had to go for a stereotactic core biopsy I went up for it I met with the nurses and radiologists and they said they wanted to do a mammogram first just to check if I really needed the core biopsy so had that done then got told to sit in waiting room for ten minutes the nurse came back out and said I needed the biopsy through Calcifications on my left breast I was dumbfounded as I didn’t know what it meant they said it was a small bit of it and me being me had read up about the biopsy the night before that if they leave the clip in your breast that means there’s no cancer so that’s what they did they left it in when they said the biopsy was being sent to get tested I blurted out W about the clip left in and meaning not cancer they all just looked at me sympathetically which has left me now really anxious my aunt just fought breast cancer and there’s a long line of cancer I just don’t know what to think could someone please tell me the clip being left in breast is good news

Welcome to our community. I am sorry to hear of your distress following your biopsy. 

Most people here would advise you to stay clear of 'Dr Google', as much of the information is out of date, poorly researched or spectacular. I fear that you have misinterpreted what you read.

They tend to routinely leave a clip in your breast so that they can locate the problem area if surgery is required. If there is no need for surgery the clip can be safely left in your breast without causing any problem. There is no sure way for anyone to know what is wrong with your breast until the results of your biopsy come back in 1-2 weeks, so don't scare yourself by thinking the worst, before you get your diagnosis.

There are many reasons for lumps and, not all of them are cancerous. Treatments have improved tremendously in the past few years, thanks to our friends at Cancer Research and elsewhere and, people are now living with cancer, instead of dying from it.

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer 8 and 9 years ago. I had the markers left in first time around. Like you, I have quite a history of breast cancer in my family, but I'm still doing well.

Having said all this, I sincerely hope that your tests don't show anything untoward.

Hi Rictina. How is it all Going?

Hi, I had the same except my calcifications were found by annual mammogram. Core biopsies found 3 areas of DCIS, very early Breast cancer. I had three clips inserted initially and believe one still in place after two surgery’s. I believe they can stay in forever with no issues. Their purpose is to help surgeons find the suspicious areas, should surgery be needed. Please try not to overthink, tho I remember doing this too when waiting for results. Everything crossed you get a good result x

I got my appointment threw for next Thursday it says on the letter to attend a breast clinic review is this good news as I’m thinking review means there’s nothing there heads just looking for answers I’m torturing myself as I don’t understand as I tend to shy out of learning things like this as it scares me
