I am so sorry to read of your diagnosis and your terrible experience with chemo. It is hard to get through this, but look on it like a goal too. This is what you have to do to give yourself the chance to see your Golden Wedding and, who knows, maybe even your grandchildren’s weddings too?

My mum died 20 years ago from metastases of breast cancer. She had this for 12 years and was diagnosed with metastases in her brain, bones, liver and lungs in her final year. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the same choice of treatments available then and she went downhill very quickly at the end. I have unfortunately followed in her footsteps and have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 8 years. I am now waiting for tests to be carried out on a mole on my back. The one ray of hope for me is that treatment and aftercare has changed so dramatically in that time and, I feel that we all stand a much better chance these days.

Keep making those goals and make memories with your family whilst you are well enough to do so.

I wish you healing vibes and strength to carry on with chemo. Don’t forget that there are several other forms of chemo if you cannot tolerate this – talk to your care team.

My dad has just started EOX and he is exhausted, vomiting and says it feels as if he hss the flu. He is your age x

I am worried it is too much for him but he and us his family want as much time with him as possible. It's so very hard as he is struggling a great deal.

Cancer is on of these horrible diseases that impacts not only on the person who has it, but also on his family.It is heart-rendering to watch a loved one struggle with treatment and to still see him failing.

It sounds as if you are a strong family unit and this is the one thing that will help him through all that he is going through.

It is not easy for the family to stay strong and positive in this situation, but it does make a big difference in how you all cope with it.
