Hi Salslop,
A very warm welcome to Cancer Chat.
I am so sorry to hear about your mum’s diagnosis. I am not a doctor, just another cancer patient. My mum was also a cancer patient. She was initially diagnosed with breast cancer and had a mastectomy followed by Tamoxifen. She survived this for 12 years, but in her final year it had spread to her liver, lungs, bone and brain.
It is not unusual to have metastases elsewhere, but not being able to identify the primary source, although I understand that this can be very frustrating.
It is not easy to watch a loved one suffer at this stage. All you can do is to be there for her, see to her needs and ensure that her medication is controlling any pain she may have.
Do you have any family or friends who can support you? Take any help that is offered, as you will find that you really do need it.
Please keep in touch. We are always here for you both if ever you want to talk.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
