Anal cancer

Hi,  this is my first time here and I thought it would be nice to chat to people who going through a similar experience to myself. I was diagnosed with anal squamous cell carcinoma just 3 days before Christmas. I went to my gp with what I thought was a prolapsed hemorrhoid, I'd been trying to treat it myself but it wasn't getting better. Eventually a was sent for the camera! From there they called it skin tags and lesions. I had surgery to remove it, at this time I had no idea it would be cancer. When I was eventually told I was shocked to say the least, I went through a really bad time for a while, then settled for a bit until I had my CT scan then all the worry came back. I have now been told I either need more aggressive surgery or Chen or adorned spy otherwise the cancer will come back. I've opted for the champ radiotherapy and are currently waiting for things to be set up. I do feel positive but scared too as what will happen to my body. Do you ever get used to drs wanting to stick their finger up there!?

  • Hi everyone I have been reading these posts on behalf of my brother who has just been diagnosed with anal cancer. They took a biopsy but told him him it was 100% cancer before they even have the results back. He is terrified and an alcoholic aswell which has put him in a spiral of drinking. I have tried to reassure hi. After reading the posts on this forum, he went with what he thought was a hemoroid and losing lots if blood.  He us now waiting for his scans, he says he is in terrible discomfort from the biopsy, the doctor has given him some anaesthetic gel to put on, is this normal to be in so much discomfort ? Hoping for the best Kathy13
