Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Tonsil.

Hi, Anybody else with this cancer? I was diagnosed 1/12/17 and treatment started 18/12/17. Entered a trial, 25x weekday daily radiotherapy plus 5x Chemotherapy. OK until start of week four, but had to start co codomel last night. Appetite has gone and forcing the fortysips down is a real problem, but have found thin porridge with honey to be good. Really find pureed meals inedible. I know it is only going to get worse over next four weeks. Any tips or thoughts. Thanks.

  • thank you, yes some days lynne and i find ourselves comparing symptoms just to be sure it’s “normal “...lol...calories are down a bit ... ensure only...but i’m not burning many asleep on the sofa ...check in again soon.... x paula

  • Hi there Paula, Lynne and john

no need to reply, you absense from this site is enough to assume that you are still on the slow recovery road.

just thought I would send you all my best wishes and thoughts

  • Definitely slow! Nausea, pain, noooo foooodddd! So over it! But thank you for thinking of us! Xxxx

  • Hi paula

6 weeks of intense treatment can take up to 18 months to repair, so don’t beat yourself up that you are not ready to go out for a four course meal ..... that a fair way off yet.

    Little improvements

    huge best wishes and thoughts

Briefly : given good news after PETscan; week in hospital due to dangerously low potasssium level; eating like a horse. Paula, Lynne, thinking of you. J.

  • Hi Vatch... I'm doing much better! Pain settled a lot, nausea gone unless I eat too much! Lol...i am managing pasta and some processed food like sausage meat still tastes like cardboard mind! Had my first away from home this week just a shame I still can't drink... Tastes naff and burns....22 kg gone now so that's a bonus...i did say I had reserves... Thank  you for thinking of us.... Hope you are keeping well? Love to all...xxxx Paula..

  • Hi Vatch, just thought I would drop  you a line, scans are looming on the horizon and they can't come soon enough! Lynne and I chat regularly and that's been great.. Both eating now, for me meat is an issue just can't swallow it... Otherwise I'm doing ok... Follow up has been lacking to say the least only two Dr reviews and as a result I'm feeling a tad paranoid. Having as camera throat done on Monday as I seem to have developed lymphedema, they want to visualise my vocal cords to be sure they are ok.. Not much they can do if they aren't! Lol... Then PET scan on the 16th hopefully and then I'll know. I'm eleven weeks out of treatment and still have some tonsil discomfort and soft pallet stiffness but no pain as such anymore... Who knows if that's normal no one seems prepared to say one way or the other... So the wait continues, but is now thankfully shorter!...i hope this finds you well... And John if you are reading this I hope you are doing great! Take care, thanks for all the support, love Paula..xxx
