Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Tonsil.

Hi, Anybody else with this cancer? I was diagnosed 1/12/17 and treatment started 18/12/17. Entered a trial, 25x weekday daily radiotherapy plus 5x Chemotherapy. OK until start of week four, but had to start co codomel last night. Appetite has gone and forcing the fortysips down is a real problem, but have found thin porridge with honey to be good. Really find pureed meals inedible. I know it is only going to get worse over next four weeks. Any tips or thoughts. Thanks.

welcome to being human and I hope the enforced hospital rest now gives you the chance to get on the up .... as I said it happens ... and it’s those two weeks post treat ment that does it.

great news about the horse and a good feel good factor whilst on the up

i did find during this time that the more I did the more tired I was. I finished my treatment on August 14 and I was back to work at work part time in mid Septembe. I would work in the mornings get home at 3 and would have to sleep until 7 when I made my wife get me up and have a light meal and pump in the fortisip.

younwill just have to get used to doing a bit of resting especially foe the first 3 months ... don’t be in such a hurry to get back to normal, take your time otherwise it could take you longer, if you get my drift

    keep this winners going

Thank you again for all the info...i got lidocaine mouth gel today because it hurts now.. Imagine that! Lol... Still eating though.. Had chicken curry tonight but couldn't eat the rice? But the curry  was yum

  • Paula

lol ... yes I’ve seen the kiwi infusion on my blog ..... it’s there to be shared and read and I had not that about it of being an educational tool for those who have a friend going through this process .... so thanks for the feedback ... always welcome

there as a blog on there that talks about mouth washes to deal with the pain

they do help a bit, some longe than others

glad to hear the curry went down and keep getting that food down even if it’s just little and often

  • Vatch,

Pleasantly surprised you were able to return to work so soon. I retired a while ago, but had a part time time as a driver/chauffeur. The job is still available, but I'm not sure I want to go back to motoring armwrestling on UK roads. Clearly, I will also have to be past the painkiller and tiredness stages, so I suspect I have got a couple of months yet.

i returned to work far to early and had to drive an hour each way.....it was very hard and very stupid of me, but I’m not on for laying in bed and just wanted to get back to normal.

i did slow down after my wife had a right go at me .... and she was totally right

    Enjoy you betting today

hows things going with you this weekend

as far as I know, here in the uk they don’t test for having negative or positive as the treatment in the same, so why bother.....that’s what I was told anyway

things may have changed though since I had my treatment
