invasive ductal carcinoma grade 2 breast cancer

Hi all, my mum has just been diagnosed with the above.  The lump is rather large 4.5cm

My mum is 65 and not the strongest person physically. We have a genetic condition called oesteogenesis imperfecta (brittle bones disease),  she also had her thryroid removed as she had nodules  and 6 years ago she had major heart surgery to replace a leaking valve and now this

What can I expect in term of treatment for her. How I can support her?

I only found out yesterday, I am still numb.

Thank you

  • Hi there lucy ... im 63, with grade 3 her 2 ... and i have ostio arthritis., scoliosis, and a few others ... im now 5 months post mastectomy, and considering everything, i was surprised how easy the operation went .. we can't tell you what to expect as everyone is different ... we can only give you info on our treatment ...

Your poor mum's been through the mill ... life sure isn't fare ... I'm not having radio therapy because of my bones and heath ... so I'm just living every day, cramming as many memories as I can ... because I'm so positive, my family are too .. they've all jumped on this journey with me, and let me make decisions that are right for me ...

All I can advise is have a heart to heart with her, and support what she wants to do ... you still have time to make more memories, jump on and go on her journey whatever she decides ... cancer wants us to be angry, cry, and it knocks us down and wants us to stay down and I for one won't let it ... every time I laugh, and have good days, it's like kicking cancers bum all the way along the road ... I won't let it take one more day then it has too ...

I lost my mum to heart attack and never got the chance to tell her how proud l was to have her as my mum ... not even a hug ... so you have the chance l never had ...  hope you find some answers you want ... thinking of you both ... big hug .... Chrissie xx
