Hi i am a previos bowel and liver cancer survivor. I am 6 years with bowel and 5 years with liver. 2 weeks ago i started to get shortness of breath following a bout of flu along with a severe pain in my left calf muscle. My doctor diagnosed me with a lower respiratory infection and gave me a weeks supply of antibiotics. I was admitted to hospital yesterday on day 3 of my holiday with shortness of breath. I was given blood tests, an xray which came back clear. The consultant then sent me for a CT scan with dye to see if it showed anything significant. I was given my results the following day which showed extensive occlusive thrombus within the right main pulmonary artery and branches and left lower lobe pulmonary artery. There is irregular thickening of the pericardium. In view of the history of malignancy these results may represent pericardial metastases. I am now waiting for my GP's referral letter to be faxed through to a heart specialist with a view to an emergency appoitment back at home. I am so frightened as to what the outcome is going to be and just needed to speak to someone
