Anal Cancer Journey

Hi. I was diagnosed with anal cancer almost 7 years ago and after treatment and 3 cancer free years diagnosed again in 2014. After more treatment and surgery which involved me going to sleep with two lungs and unexpectedly waking up with one there’s been no sign of cancer for nearly 2 1/2 years and I’m trying to move on but it’s not easy. Will it come back again ? That’s the million dollar question and it’s hard living with that

Anal cancer is not common and hardly even mentioned so you can feel very isolated. If I can answer any questions about the journey I’ve had I’m happy to try if it will help anyone facing a similar diagnosis

Its really helping me to me to read other peoples stories and how they’ve coped.

  • Anal cancer

Hi I hope you can help me. What symptom do you have in anal cancer. Is it easy to diagnose anal cancer and what is the best scan for it. Also can you feel the lump and does it have to bleed because I have no bleeding just clear mucus  something only twice I've seen spotting of blood. They did colonoscopy but couldn't find anything. The doctor did the finger test in the anal canal and said he feels a lump but it's my uterus and I sorry forgot to mention I have multiple of fibriod in the uterus. He confused me because I didn't think you can feel the uterus in and anal also I didn't know fibriod give you mucus.

The gastrointestinal doctor has confused me. I so am loosing weight and can't eat well. Please I know you had the cancer long time ago but I would like to to because everyone talks about colon cancer and not anal cancer

  • Hi janna. I'm new on here. I've just finished treatment for anal cancer.
how are you doing?  Hope you're ok x

  • Hello, I've just finished my chemotherapy and radiotherapy two days ago and am feeling lots of pain, (lots of shooting pain) and am so sore. Just wondering how long I'm going to feel so bad as I'm miserable.
