Hi my name is Jan,

i was diagnosed with BC on the 9th August this year, and I started Tamoxifen straight away.  I had a mastectomy on the 6th of October with reconstruction.  

I opted for the Oncotype DX test and I’m still waiting for the results to come back.  It will be 3 weeks this Friday they were sent off.  I had 2 tumours in left breast not big tumours but big enough for me to lose the breast.  Both lumps were Grade 2.

Waiting for these results, is like having a black cloud looming over my head.  Once they are back I then have to wait to see my oncologist which will be about 2 weeks.  Sometimes I just wish I opted for the chemo but other days I just say “hey lady there’s someone out there whose suffering more than you”.

I ain’t going to lie I’ve cried.  Some days the tears don’t stop falling.  Then I’m ok for 2 or 3 days.  

I just wanted to introduce myself.

    U have come to the right place for support during this awful time. 

    I was diagnosed with BC Aug10th like u 2 lumps but right breast. Both grade2. I had lumpectomy on 21st sept. I am taking letrozole. Today is day 8/15 of radiotherapy. I am not having chemo. 

    Unlike u I did not have the oncotest Dx - I was not offered. I say this on the assumption it is not a test that is done automatically. 

    I cried when first diagnosed but very quickly looked myself in the eye nd decided all the angst in the world won’t change a thing. I also read on here the advice to not to think ahead look to the now and deal with it. These two things worked for me but.... everyone is different- we do whatever we need to get through. 

    Without question it is the waiting that is the worst so hope u don’t have to wait too much longer. 

    My waits felt to just go on but as I look back from diagnosis to end of treatment it will be 13 wks. Then I guess the picking up the pieces of my life will commence, apparently a bumpy  road in itself.

    So...you are not alone, you will get through this because you are stronger and more resilient than you ever thought you could or would be. Keep posting and let us all know how things are going, we care x

    Hi there ... just wanted to welcome you to our little chat room.... I’m 3 1/2 months post mastectomy... and can’t add any more then Sandra, as she really is an inspiration, and like her, looking back it’s all really quick, but those times waiting for results etc seem to go on forever ... but you do get there and then you’ll know the next step ... so sending you positive vibes ... and a big hug for the wait ..Chrisie ️ Xx
