Hi there Donna.
Almost a mirror image of me last year. I had just started chemo after left mast, reconstruction, lymph nodes out and all that. 1st three chemo were ECT and 2nd three were taxotere. What are you having? Have you any noticeable side effects?
I did some research and despite the leaflets saying eat whatever you can get down, I went for a high nutrition no meat no dairy regime during chemo. Tons of fruit smoothie, supergreens, high quality supplements with a treat on a Friday night after the chemo was finished! I know it's not everyone's cup of tea and I don't know how I would have coped with it without all this stuff. Maybe I would have been one of those types who coped with it anyway. I'll never know but I feel very strongly that an immune boosting diet throughout was what got me through it pretty unscathed.
I had off days when, like the leaflets say, you just have to get down whatever you can. But those for me were very few and far between. Recovery from everything that has been and will be thrown at your body in the coming weeks and months makes for a long road to recovery but I'm sure you've googled yourself mad on this. But just like if you were going to do a long drive, you'd make sure the vehicle is fuelled up, oil and tyres checked and that it is fit for the journey wouldn't you? This is no different.
You will get through this. Chemo is horrible yes but it's manageable. You can cope with it. A good giggle with your loved ones or even a cry to release tension always helps. You can do this. Xx
Hi,
I had lung cancer and lost my right lung (2015).
The surgery was ok but the chemo after was hell.
But two years later and I am still clear. It must have worked and maybe it was all worth it.
Don't worry that you have problems with the chemo, I could not cope and an older man also with lung cancer could go still on holiday and I could not get out my sofa and had to call the nurse two times for an injection and stop me vomiting all the time. (I was 55 years old strong as a mountain and did not see a doctor for 35 years)
No two people are the same and no chemo is the same.
Hope you feeling strong for the 18/11 and believe me when you go for your last session that is the biggest relief ever (don't use google for any cancer or chemo)
Get well soon
