I am currently experiencing mouth ulcers around the scaring in my mouth..my menstral cycle also appears to be going crazy...maybe stress? I don’t know...I’m due to see my doctors again on Monday..so will hopefully get some answers ..I guess I joined the group because I don’t really know how to feel st the moment..I’m relieved st my results but worried that it’s not over...my family are amazing but I don’t want to put them through any more worry

    Hi Trisha,

Welcome to Cancer Chat and sorry for the reason that you find yourself here. I am glad to hear that you have a very supportive family, but you will find this site useful, when you don’t want to keep worrying family members.

I am glad to hear that there has been no spread since you had your surgery in August and hope that this continues to be the case. There is an anti-fungal spray which your doctor can prescribe, which might help your mouth ulcers.

If it’s of any consolation to you, your emotions at present are not at all unusual. The shock of diagnosis and the worry about treatment and possible spread are all scary things to deal with. Most of us find that our feelings are all over the place and we often find that we cry copiously. Don’t worry about this. Just let the tears flow, as they help to de-stress you.

Once you get a cancer diagnosis, you learn to live with the possibility of spread – not a pleasant thought, but I suppose that this is just human nature. What ages are your family and how are they taking to your news?

I am afraid that I don’t know much about salivary gland cancer. I have a rare form of cancer too, but it is in my breast. I have had 2 bouts of primary cancer so far. The first was diagnosed 7 years ago and the second 6 years.

Why not use the search engine on the blue banner at the top of this page? Insert your key words and you should bring up previous posts on your type of cancer. This can introduce you to others who have experienced what you are going through and you will possibly get to speak to them sooner than waiting for them to reply to your post.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on. We are always here for you, whenever you want to talk..

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
