New to the forum not new to cancer unfortunately

Hi I'm new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself. I'm Colette I'm 48 and I have thyroid cancer. I had stage 3 gallbladder cancer only last year so was pretty gutted to get the all clear (after a liver resection and 6 months of chemotherapy) to then find out I now have unrelated thyroid cancer. I'm hoping to chat to anyone who has been in this situation, ie. having either 2 unrelated or rare cancers at the same time. I'm due to have a total thyroidectomy and neck dissection surgery this week and it feels a bit like deja vu right now. But I'm always an optimist so I'm doing ok

    Hi Smiffy,

Welcome to Cancer Chat, although I'm sorry that you have to join us here. I have had two bouts of primary breast cancer. I lost my Mum to secondary breast cancer many years ago and have lived in fear of following down her route ever since. I was first diagnosed 7 years ago and had a second primary in the same breast a year later. I have mucinous cancer - a rare one which only 1% of people get.

I am sure that someone with Thyroid Cancer will come along to chat soon. In the meantime, why don't you use the search engine on the blue bar at the top of this page. Insert your key words and it will bring up previous posts on this subject.

I know what you mean about deja vu. I felt like that second time around too. I had a lumpectomy the firdt time and a double mastectomy the second time.

I hope that your operation this week goes well. Please keep in touch. There is always someone here for you whenever you want to talk.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
