Hello

Hi. New to forum.   53 year old with inflammatory breast disease.  Sleep is continually elusive. Anyone else?

    Hi Fernando,

I see that this is your first visit to the forum, so welcome to Cancer Chat. I am not at all surprised that sleep is eluding you. You have been given a diagnosis that is life-changing and, when everything happens so quickly, you feel as if you are on a rollercoaster and cannot get off. You probably start thinking in the quiet of the night and then your mind goes into overdrive.

Have you tried turning off the telly and computer for an hour before you go to bed? You can read a book or listen to music - anything that will help you to relax before you go to bed. Have you discussed this with your consultant? S/he can prescribe sleeping pills if you really need them, although they don't like to prescribe them for too long.

Have you got a treatment plan yet?

I lost my Mum to Secondary Breast Cancer many years ago and I was diagnosed with breast cancer mysef 7 years ago. I had a second bout of primary breast cancer the following year.

Please keep in touch. There is always someone here whenever you feel like talking.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx.
