Welcome to the forum. You say that you are not sure how it works. It isn't rocket science. The forum  is populated by cancer pilgrims at different stages of their cancer journey and with many different types of cancer. There are also some moderators on the site to see that it runs as it should and there is also a team of nurses who can answer your questions either under the 'Ask the Nurses' section of this site, or by Freephone on 0808 800 4040..

You have found Cancer Chat early on in your cancer journey, which is good. This is a stressful time for you and you will get support here from people who have had first-hand experience of surgery and treatments. You will find that, with the best will in the world,,family and friends who have not had cancer themselves, cannot always appreciate how we feel about things. This can also save families from additional worries. So, basically we support one another at our times of need.

I am sorry to hear about  your recent diagnosis. Have you had the results of your lumpectomy and axilliary node clearance yet? When are you due to start radiotherapy?

Please keep us posted as to how you are getting on. There is always someone to talk to whenever you feel the need. As you get used to the site you will probably find that you want to reply to other peoples'  posts. When this happens you are then starting to support others.

I have had 2 bouts of primary breast cancer. The first was 7 years ago and the second a year laer. I first had a lumpectomy and then had a double mastectomy the second.

I hope that your radiotherapy goes well.
