Good evening
I have joined the forum in the hope that I can find help, information and support whilst I care for 3 people with various cancers. I live in Spain and have been shocked at the lack of support in the community from any primary care sources. My background is midwifery - so I have a certain amount of clinical knowledge- but am on a mission to broaden my knowledge further to help these people.
My uncle, 82, has terminal bile duct cancer, he has a biliary stent inserted and is not suitable for any chemotherapy . At home , suffers severe fatigue, but managing to eat and drink well. Spends most of his day in bed.
Jackie, 71, has a single brain metastasis of unknown primary origin, had 1 week of palliative radiotherapy in march, has left sided weakness and balance problems, eats and drinks well, some fatigue, spends about a quarter of her day sleeping.
Joan, 82, 2 years post hysterectomy for cancer followed by radiotherapy. Is clear of cancer, but has a 1 year history of vomiting which the hospital has said is due to inflammation of her digestive system from the radiotherapy. She is malnourished and dehydrated, discharged from hospital 4 days ago. Extremely weak.
I shall be reading your posts with great interest and will be asking many questions- apologies in advance!!!
kind regards
kirsty
