Hi all I am new to the group, newly diagnosed only 8 months after this awful disease took my husband. I have a great supportive family, who are always there for me.

Hi Sandra,
Welcome to Cancer Chat although I’m sure that you would rather be anywhere else but here. I am so sorry to learn that this is the second time that your family has been afflicted in such a short time. I offer my sincere sympathy on the loss of your husband.
What sort of cancer did your husband have and how long did he get from diagnosis? Can you tell us a little more about your own cancer – type, stage, surgery and treatment, etc? This must be particularly difficult for you to cope with having seen your husband at the end stages. I lost my Mum to cancer many years ago. She initially presented with breast cancer which she battled with for 11 years. She was diagnosed with breast, bone, brain, liver and lung metastases in her twelfth year and it was heart breaking to watch a loved one deteriorate so quickly after that. I myself have since had two bouts of primary breast cancer, the first diagnosed 7 years ago. Like you, I am fortunate to have an excellent support network. Do you have any children?
I am glad to hear that you also have a good support network. Remember, that if you do not want to share certain things with your family or friends, there is always someone here to talk to. This site is populated by people with cancer or people caring for someone with cancer. They have first-hand experience and are fully conversant with the psychological as well as the physiological aspects of this horrible disease.
Please keep in touch.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
