Colon Cancer

Hi Everyone I'm 5 weeks post op for colon cancer. What a shocker thought it would be IBS or celeac  but turned out to be a tumour. I had all the tests sigmoidascopy etc and found out there and then. I was fast tracked for ct scans etc. 6 weeks after my 1st test I'd had my op and fortunately they joined my bowel so no stoma was needed. I am now recouprating at home. I cannot fault the care if had. Im very positive and thls alien that was in my body will not beat me. I start chemo on the 29th for 6 months. I'm taking everything in my stride I believe my oncologist and put my faith in the doctors. I still cannot believe in such a short space of time this has happens to me xx

    Hi Allibears,

I see that this is your first visit to this forum so welcome to Cancer Chat. I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis and would agree that everything seems to happen so quickly after that that you hardly feel that you have time to draw breath - time is of the essence.

I am glad to hear that your surgery was successfully carried out without the need for a stoma – that must have been a relief to you.

You sound like a very positive person and it is always a great help if you have total faith in your oncologist and surgeon.

I hope that all goes well with your chemo.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. There is always someone here to talk to, whether you want information or you just fancy a rant.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Allybears, I also had a diagnosis of colon cancer in march this year! It was a total shock. My op was on April and like you they managed to resect my bowel so no stoma. I started weekly chemo last month and have now had 4 sessions. So far not too bad, lots of waiting around for treatment so time consuming, a few side effects but nothing too dramatic so far ! What chemo regime will you be having? Hope it goes well for you x

  • Hi Allibears I too had a tumour removed from my colon Feb 2016 followed by 6 months of chemo, I ended up with a stoma which will hopefully be reversed in Oct, should have had it in March but breast cancer and radiotherapy got in the way, but I believe in the power of positive thinking and have complete Faith in my medical team. The way I see it they are there to do all the worrying while I get on with my life. I hope all goes well for you . X
