Help

Hello Everyone,

I'm writing on behalf of my friend whose partner just got diagnosed with terminal cancer. They were the happiest couple until few weeks ago. 8 weeks or so ago no-one suspected anything. Than he started to complain about headaches and stomach aches. After several visits to A&E he had been admitted and had lots of MRI and CT and all sorts of examinations. We just got told today that his cancer is so aggressive and cannot be curred and he might have weeks or few months left. My friend does not speak very well English and unfortunately they are not married nor in civil partnership.(they are from Hungary)  I can help to translate and make all the phone calls for them but I haven't got an idea what to do now. I don't know who to turn to or what kind of financial helps they could get as he cannot work and she works only part-time. Therefore any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you for listening. X

  • Such a sad story. My Mum was poorly for a good while before she had lots of scans revealing many cancers and the hospital gave her a few weeks possibly months on 3rd March, she spent a couple of weeks at home with 3x a day carers and family all the time. She did not really want to go into hospital again but when she collapsed on the bathroom floor she accepted going into the Hospice. WONDERFUL place. And mum went in on March the 17th and passed away beautifully on the sunrise of the 25th March.

So my advice is to please get in touch with your local Hospiscare. They offer excellent support, during and also after for however long. It is nothing like a hospital by the way.

I hope this helps a little, nothing can help the heartache though. But support is there for you.
