Hi everyone! I am Ngodoo, 29 years old.I got diagnosed last year July of breast cancer. Have had a big lumpectomy where d upper right quadrant of my breast was taken out. I just had my 8th cycle of chemotherapy last week. I had four last year, and four this year. I can't remember the name of the drug I had last year, but this year's drug is docetaxel. Dunno anyone here who has had it, but its really harsh. Whereas last year's drug didn't pull my hair, this docetaxel has completely shaved me. Before I started chemotherapy, I was injected with zoladex, the doctors said its supposed to protect my ovaries, given that I have not yet given birth. And it has made me put on a lot of weight, like times two of my original size. Also, I have not seen my period since last year September, which was the month I started treatment. And in the midst of all these, I just got married. My family has been very supportive, likewise the few friends I chose to tell about the situation. But its not been an easy journey. I can't count the number of times I have cried and questioned God. I was glad when I came across this group. My question now is , does everyone miss their period completely while having chemotherapy? And how long does it take before it returns? Plus, I read somewhere that sometimes a woman can still be ovulating while the period is off, and as such, can get pregnant. Meanwhile, the drugs are harmful to the foetus. I guess what I just want to find out is if anyone has experienced all of this.
