I'm 59 and I've just finished my second series of chemos. I was diagnosed in October 15. I'm on Avastin and I'm hoping for more remission than I had after the first series.

Hi Trisha, I wish you well and wish u more remission going forward. My mum has just had a hysterectomy and awaiting her results, we have to wait til 9th June! She had high ca125 blood levels after complaining of a painful Tummy 3 days after her breast op as she had pre cancerous cells in one breast. The ct scan results showed 4 cysts, 2 on each ovary which the surgeon said after removing them that mum will need chemo, so we are assuming the cysts were cancerous. My mum doesn't ask many questions as scared of the answers. I'm still hoping the surgeon may say they wasn't cancerous but I'm sure they know from seeing them? How did you find chemo, my mum is 65 and I'm worried for her as she's lost almost 2 stone in the past 10 weeks from getting her call back following a routine mammogram. Just seems to have all happened so quickly one after the other. I wish you all the best x
Hi there. It's important to know that chemo is less scary than it used to be. They give you meds to avoid/reduce side effects. I lost all my hair with the first series of chemos but I've still got it all after the second series. Depends on which chemo/chemos they give. Weight loss is not necessarily a bad thing depending on her current weight. As for what they tell her, it's led by the patient. What was her CA125?
Mine was nearly 900 at time of diagnosis. Now it's 15.
