Acinic Cell Carnicinoma - Saliva Gland Cancer

Hi . Found a small lump the size of a pea at the base of my ear. It grew to the size of 3 peas. Saw a specialist and the rollercoaster began. Had a Parotid Gland tumour the size of a golf ball removed 2 weeks ago and wasn't at all worried as the 2 biopsies prior to surgery were beningn.

well last night got the devastating news that the tumour itself was malignant - Cancer.

now have to wait to get referred to another team and have no idea how long I should wait.... the last 24 hours has felt like an eternity already .....

any advice please - my head is everywhere and I feel a total mental mess

    I think you echo the thoughts of many members here upon receiving a cancer diagnosis and I'm sure some of our members will be along when they can to offer their support and advice.     my cancer was gynea so my situation very different. but i thought my surgery was for benign reason and had a major shock when told different. i then had  CT scan and 2 weeks to wait until had full picture . 

    so I had the similar feeling of shock and waiting and being scared. only myself and husband knew and that was how I wanted it. only just happened so stiil feels surreal.

    do what you think will keep you feeling ok while you wait, use the helplines - even if they cant tell you answers it helps to say how you feel or cry. i was able to be busy so that helped me push things to one side at times. be kind to yourself , you will get some control back once you know the picture.
