Hello...& hello Chondrosarcoma (again!)

Hi all,

I am new to the forum & thought I'd introduce myself. 5 years ago I was diagnosed with low grade chondrosarcoma in my left shoulder. I had the tumour removed & 6 monthly check ups at RNOH London.

I have recently learnt that I have a secondary tumour that has returned again in my left shoulder, which is currently less than 1CM.

Are secondary chondrosarcomas more aggressive? I am very tired all of the time & I have a constant ache. I'm not sure whether I'm tired from the anxiety and stress of having to go through this again or whether it is literately feeding off of me. I am 23 and scared of this again, surgery currently is not an option due to its small size & having my second MRI in June to check growth. Can this be treated with chemo / rad instead?

Very frustrating... Grr!

  • A warm welcome to our forum, Amy!

I’m so sorry to hear that a secondary tumour returned after all these years and I can understand why you’re so concerned and frustrated.

I’m afraid though I won’t be able to answer your questions, sorry about that, but if you want to give our cancer nurses a call, they are available on this free number 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

Also, there is a section on our website with general information on secondary bone cancer which I'm linking here and I hope this can be of some help.

    Wishing you the very best,

  • Hi Amy,

Im worried I have the exact symptoms of this but have hadn’t no help from my GP, I’m awaiting a hospital referral. It’s been an ongoing problem for just over a year now, also in my left shoulder. Please could you give me a little info on how yours first started? I’m in my early 30s and my family has a bad history of cancer on both sides. Iv posted my query somewhere on here (I’m new). I hope your doing ok now? x
