Pancreatic cancer spread to Liver our mum

Hello our 67 year old mum lost her husband at christmas and since then had been losing weight. She lost her appetite and had stomach pain. She was taking stomach acid pills for 8 weeks then had a gastrostomy which found 2 ulcers. Then a week later she was asked to go for a CT scan and on Wednesday the consultant said that she has pancreatic cancer which has spread to her liver. They examined her tummy and said there was fluid and ankles are swollen and itching.

They said treatment may only give her a few more months buy couldn't say anything else as she wasn't an oncologist and did we want to see one.of course mum said yes.

Yesterday it was a real struggle to get her to walk a few minutes to the GP

She has gone down hill very quickly.we are very scared

  • Hi Jacqueline,

Welcome to the forum although I'm really sorry to hear about your mum's situation.

I can understand why you're feeling scared but I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. Many members here have been where you are now and will completely understand how you are feeling and what you are going through and I'm sure they will post soon to offer their support and share their experiences with you.

Do you know when your mum will be seeing the oncologist? I hope she doesn't have too long to wait and that it goes well when the time comes. Do come back and let us know what they say Jacqueline, we'll be thinking of you.

    Best wishes to you both,
