Hello

My Daughter has terminal cancer. She was given then all clear but it come back very quickly so I don't think it really went away. Hers has spread to different parts of her body and is in her brain now. She has 18 tumours 7 in her brain. She's been taking steroids to help stop the swelling in her brain. The steroids make her feel somewhat better while she is on them. But when she's not taking them it's very difficult for her to even get out of bed she sleeps a lot and is very sick and weak. She has chemotherapy but doesn't know if there any improvement as yet because they haven't given her anymore scans yet. She has a palliative nurse go in to her at home to help her and talk about things. And help the kids get to understand I believe they're going to having cancelling at some point. I still don't know how long she has with us weather it's  days weeks months years. Hopefully it's years but I think it's to advanced to beat this. But you can never say never. What are her chances can you tell by what I've told you. I'm really worried as a mother should be. But what must she be feeling she has 6 children they need her I need her

what can be done for her

regards

thanks

  • Hello Trolley56,

Welcome to the forum although I am so very sorry to hear the news about your daughter. It must be an incredibly difficult time for you all.

Have you been able to talk with the nurses that are caring for your daughter? They should be able to help answer some of your questions and concerns that you have about what lies ahead.

It's positive to hear that your grandchildren are also being supported and that some counselling is being arranged for them. This is something that I know will help them to prepare for the changes that will come about because of Mum's illness.

We do also have a team of nurses here that if you would like to talk to then can call on 0808 800 4040. They are available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Sending our best wishes. Please keep us updated as and when you can.
