Terminal bile duct cancer

Hi,

looking for anyone who has experience or knowledge about this cancer, my husband who is 45 has just found out recently after becoming jaundice that he had bile duct cancer and advanced and spread to liver, we met oncologist last week and said it was probably stage 3 but he said it can't be removed because of where cancer is! So surgery isn't an option, he then said that it os terminal and prognosis with chemo might give  him 6-12 months!!! I can't get my head round it all!! He is fit and healthy, was never ill apart from jaundice!! Any help would be great i.e. Palliative chemo

thanks amy

  • I feel you have to try.  Just trying to prolong your life.  I have found the chemo very bearable.  I am taking 3 chemo drugs, about 4 hours every other week and take home pump for 46 hours.  I guess you could say not real fun but not bad.  I have just started having some stomach pain.  Kind of like gas pressure but no gas.  Good Luck God is good!!

  • hi my partner was diagnosed last August and now they’ve said it’s spread to the liver and is stage 4. Can’t operate or give him chemo, said he’s maybe a month to live, did a lot of research on this cannabis oil so started him on it yesterday & omg what a difference in him, he’s eating drinking, getting dressed and coming downstairs, he’s hardly in any pain where as 2 days ago he was having injections of morphine for really bad pain. We are determained to prove the consultant wrong with his life expectancy and we are going to stick to the oil.

  • Hi

my sister in law has this awful cancer and is currently having chemo but is really interested in the cannabis oil too. I hope your partner continues to do well

  • Welcome to the forum Lee although I'm sorry about your sister in law's diagnosis.

I just wanted to make you aware of the latest UK rules and regulations about cannabis oil on the NHS website as well as this post one of our cancer nurses made in response to another member asking about this towards the end of last year.

Do make sure your sister in law discusses this with her medical team first as taking this could potentially interfere with the chemotherapy she is currently having, and can carry other side effects and risks as well.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi my father in law has just been diagnosed and we are all terrified. I'm so sorry you lost your dear husband last year cancer is so so cruel. My heart goes out to you and your children xxx

  • Hello, my mother was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma November 2018, hers to was inoperable, and she was to weak for chemo, her consultant said the only thing she can do was ride it out and give her twelve months, my Mam had been in and out of hospital since the end of October with jaundice, and infection after infection. They finally let her come home the middle of January with long term care put in place, to watch her go from a strong healthy lady to a person that was to weak to stand or do anything for herself, she couldn’t eat bearly drank any fluids. My Mam past away last week on the 27th of February her funeral will be held on the 18th of March. She would have been 75 on the 3rd of April. In four months I watched my Mam go from a strong happy person To losing her life to Bile duck cancer. I am one of 5 children she had fourteen grandchildren and  fourteen Great Grandchildren. I wish you well.

  • Hey Bob C, wonder if you could shed any light on the stomach pain. My hubby has had a few weeks of tummy pain now. On Folfox, for Bile duct cancer, 2nd cycle

  • Hi my dads just been diangnosed 2 days ago to unwell for chemo so I’m begging you plZ tell which which cannabis oil you use I’ve heard it shrinks cancer too I’m prepared to help him as much as I can and happy your husband has found a new lease in life on this

  • Sorry to hear about your mum.  I have had the same news with my mum. Her tumour is operable but she isn't because of her health. She is doing great eating again etc after the jaundice so I am very reluctant to make her sick with chemo. We have got to d3xide whether to keep her under surveillance and monitor her every couple of months or if to start the chemo  to help stop the tumour to from spreading. Need advice as to what I should do?
