Waldenström's

I was diagnosed with Waldenström's macroglobulinaemia around 15 years ago.  Managed by a watch and wait policy until 2 years ago.  Eventually had to start 6 months of chemo a year ago.  Lots of problems and hospital admissions during chemo including 2 bouts of sepsis.  Last chemo September last year.   Unsuitable for Rituximab maintenance therapy as White cells very low.  Nasty bout of PCP pneumonia necessitated hospital admission during early Feb.  Still taking antibiotics until seen in clinic in April.  Will I ever get any energy back?  Am so fed up with causing worry to those I love.

  • Hello Judes,

I noticed you hadn't had a reply yet so wanted to post to say hello and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling at the moment. It sounds as if it's a difficult time you and those around you.

You've mentioned that your next clinic appointment is in April. We have some information on our website about cancer & fatigue which may be of interest. Do you have a clinical nurse specialist that you can call to talk to before your appointment about how you are feeling? Alternatively if you'd like to talk to our team of nurses then please do give them a call on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

I hope that you're able to find some answers to help improve your energy levels soon.

    Best wishes,
