IBC diagnosed

was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer last year and still trying to come to terms with what that means for my future. It's aggressive and doesn't have the depth of knowledge due to it's rarity. I'm nearly finished with treatment and worried that it's not all gone. How will they know if they got it all or do I just have to wait and hope there's nothing left to come back as this type of cancer has a high early recurrence if the information I'm seeing is right.

  • Hi cmc60,

Welcome to the forum. I think that many of our members, regardless of their diagnosis, will be able to identify with some of the concerns that you have mentioned in your post. Worrying about "has it all gone" or "will it come back" are not uncommon concerns and are certainly understandable. I know that some members here have also talked about finding a new normal when it comes to how they approach their future and whatever it may hold. Hopefully once your treatment has come to an end you'll be able to process those thoughts and feelings a little more.

We do have some information on our website about inflammatory breast cancer which I've linked for you and may help with some of your questions. We do also have an Ask the Nurses topic area here on Cancer Chat and if you have any specific questions about what may happen after your treatment finished, then do post to ask them.

    Sending you best wishes,
