Introduction

My name is Margaret and I am 64 years old . Today I am visiting the Breast clinic at my local hospital after my GP finding abnormalities in my breast tissue. I am just a little nervous of the procedure and the waiting time for results ? ?

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Margaret.

I noticed that you're visiting the breast clinic at your local hospital today, so I wanted to pop on to reply (if I haven't already missed you!).

Breast Cancer Care has some information about what to expect at a breast clinic appointment, which I'm hoping might be helpful. It also talks about waiting times for results.

I hope the appointment goes well - if you'd like to let us know how you got on, we're here to listen.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Helen

  • Hi Helen, Thank you for your reply, I attended the clinic and was seen by a consultant who examined me and arranged an xray, I have to wait now til Monday next for an ultrasound and a biopsy, meanwhile I have been given antibiotics to rule out an infection as being the reason for the symptoms I have....back for all results on the 30th March !! . I will try to stay busy until then . MARGARET
  • Hi, I had my diagnosis today and it is Inflammatory Breast Cancer , c.t scan booked for next Monday and bone scan next Thursday, Had a good cry with Hubby and now decided the fight is on xx

  • Hi Margaret, thank you for coming back to update us; I'm sorry to hear you've been diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer.

How did your CT scan go on Monday? It sounds like a busy week of tests with your bone scan booked in for tomorrow, too.

Like many of the people on here, I can certainly relate to how you feel when you receive the diagnosis, and I've cried on my hubby's shoulder many a time too. If you'd like to talk to others who are going through similar experiences to you, you can click on the 'search forum' bit near the top of the page - perhaps by typing in 'breast cancer'. It's good to know you're not alone, I find.

We also have a helpine if you have any questions for our nurses: 0808 800 4040.

Wishing you all the best for tomorrow,

    Helen

  • Hi Helen, thank you for your good wishes. I have joined a facebook support group just for IBC ladies, I only joined today and the response and tips have been coming thick and fast, really made me welcome and I feel more confident and upbeat about my diagnosis and upcoming treatment. I have also heard from my allocated nurse and will meet her sometime next week when I see the oncologist to discuss the next step.....I am ready for the fight, and fight I will !!!! xx
