DCIS

hi all, I was diagnosed with DCIS last year after my first mammogram, it was high grade and I had to have a local wide excision which was clear so had another then radiotherapy I'm now 6mth on, I felt like a fraud and thought it isn't really cancer just pre cancer, but I still ended up having all this treatment, I'm nervous about my next mammogram though but tell everyone I'm not bothered like I did all the way through my treatment. I'm not sure why I'm on here, I was looking for an answer to a concern I had, and here I am.

  • Hi Polly. Sorry to hear you've had the long journey. DCIS is cancer & very real but a positive attitude helps. It's very good that it was detected early so well done getting through the treatments. Those are given as a prevention but nothing is 100% guarantee in life so enjoy each day & mammograms are an early detection tool so i am very thankful we have the NHS who gives us all this. One day at a time & the motto i vow by is live, love & laugh.
