hi my husband has been diagnosed recently, I feel we are on a roller coaster he has been offered all treatments and we are struggling to make a decision. We have seen radiologist and have an appointment with surgeon on Monday. 

My hubby is 61 has a psa of 6.8 and gleeson score of 7 which we have been told is low risk, if this is low risk why have they offered all treatments..... Very confused !

    I am 6mths post surgery and feel good and no complications everything works as it should and no pads.

    Back at work and no restrictions and getting better everyday.

     

    It takes time so don't loose heart just allow your body  hence to heal and the rest will follow.

    Feel free to ask me any questions about practicalities as I work for the NHS as a physical instructor and have done for 22 years

    Thank you, my husband is having his op 02.05 but has recently complained of pain in his buttocks so I am worried that it may be spreading, wish the op was sooner

    Hi Debz,

    My stats are very similar to your husband's (PSA 7.5 and 8 on Gleason 4+4 this is moderate to high) and the thing i have found is that treatment options are very taylored to the individual involved. I have been offered the surgical option but they have also considered radiotherapy which i beleive hampers the removal option if they want to take it out later - not sure why.

    I'm glad that you have the surgery booked as it does give you a focus. Try not to worry about the buttocks pain but be sure to mention it to his keyworker or consultant.

    Keep positive and set mini goals. This is my second time dancing the cancer dance (pancreatic last time) and it doesnt get easier but I did find setting mini goals a big help and a way to notice you're getting better.
