Goodness,im so sorry for your experience.I Had nothing but fantastic polite helpful staff.

I would most definitely say somthing,they are treating people with cancer for goodness sake! 

I would not want someone else to go through the same horrible experience.

The nurse should feel thoroughly ashamed of herself.She should understand how stressful the daily trip to have treatment is and that most people are still recovering or undergoing chemotherapy.

I do hope you are ok now and are a little less upset from this experience.

Yes you must say something, but to the supervisor, not the staff. We know there under vast amounts of pressure to compleat each persons needs, but we are and have been going through some of the worst moments of our life and just a few kind words or some courtesy in helping us makes all the difference.

I myself will be having radiotherapy, starting very soon ( I have prostate cancer ) like you I have had a torrid last six months, so I hope to be treated in a professional manner, or my wife will let them know in no uncertain terms.

Thank you for your kind reply, it's a good idea of yours to speak to a supervisor and not the nurse herself. I realise they must be under enormous pressure to keep to appointment times and I don't mind waiting but I like to know if they are running late so that at least the kind people who take me know how long I will be, not forgetting they are still sitting in the waiting room whilst I'm having my treatment.

I have breast cancer and they found 2 different types of cancer growing, hence a painful second incision. When I had my 70 th birthday last May I thought how fit and healthy I was for my age, then I had a routine mammogram and wham the dreaded word cancer was mentioned straight away.

Thank you for those kind words.

It seems no matter how healthy you are, this desease takes no prisoners, and being told is one of life's eye openers. 

My wife, bless her was extremely upset when we were told, me being so easy going, comforted her as best as I could, even though it was me that was affected by the news.

I do hope your treated with the respect that you should be, as a senior citizen and a person going through a harrowing experience.

I think the behaviour of the staff is disgusting and there is no excuse.  We all have pressures at work but it is called profesisonalism.  I think you should definitely write a complaint - do not do it verbally as someone who is not as kind as you or as strong will endure such treatment and may have more serious consequences on the mental health of the patient.  Putting it in writing will be more effective as action will be taken.

We all know the strains the NHS is under but if they do not have the demeanour to deal with the pressures, they should not be in that role.  It might seem harsh but we are all put in pressurised environments and being professional is what we get paid for.  As the saying goes - if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Good luck with the next appointment and I hope you never have to endure such ignorance again.

Thanks to everyone for your kind replies, I have had a better experience at radiotherapy today. Some of the patients who were in the waiting room yesterday were there again today and they all said they were disgusted by this nurse's attitude and shouting to me across the room, as they said, totally unprofessional. 

The nurse was very young but thought she was the bees knees the way she spoke to me. She was there today but avoided me like the plague.

I now know her name and have started to compile a letter of complaint, it might stop another cancer patient from being upset. I think we all have enough to contend with, with side effects from drugs to the shock of hearing the words, you have cancer.
