Newbie, saying hi and sharing my story. X x

Hi everyone, wanted to introduce myself. Have a family history of various forms of cancers. So am uber vigilant a out checking, smears ect. Anyway never thought of nails. Never ruddy heard of it before. I have been to the doctors a few times and showed him the lines on my nail. Only to be told i had bumped it, or it wasn't anything really. Anyway went back after a family member said my grandma had the same thing. Me been a lot younger when she passed away just thought it was in her boobies. Any way went back and told doctor i was pretty worried. Lines getting darker and wider. Told just keep ypur eye on it. So imagine my shock when i gets a call from same said docotor yesterday to say he was refering mw as a matter of urgency to go get it seen too, and i gets the phone call this morning to say it will be on the 22nd of this month. Panic has set in, nerves ect ect. Feel a bit of a ninny for feeling so emotional. But family history always makes me sooooo scared. Has anyone else gone through this, and could tell me what to expect ect. Any help would be appreciated.  Much llve and hugs  x x

  • Hello Spotthedog, and welcome to Cancer Chat!

Hopefully, someone with similar experiences will be along soon to chat about your concerns. In the meantime, I just wanted to pop on to let you know that our friendly, expert team of nurses are available to chat - should you wish to - between 9am and 5pm (Monday to Friday), on 0808 800 4040.

Waiting is tough, and many people here will agree that it's hard not to let emotions run wild. I hope the time between now and your appointment passes quickly, and you can get some answers soon.

    Best wishes,

    Helen

  • Bless you. It's easier said than done but just get on with your everyday life. You'll make your self I'll if you worry about it. Mind you I've always been told that I'm so laid back about it. I hope that the tests come to nothing and all is well. Keep us informed. X
