Bowel and kidney cancer

Hi all. I was told I had cancer of the colon in early November and since have been passed from pillar to post between different hospitals. Since diagnosis I have also had a stent fitted in the tube to kidney and have now been told there is an unrelated malignant cancer there so am now to have a piece of colon removed and right kidney. Really frightened as I am overweight due to not being to exercise regularly following a triple heart bypass followed by a heart artery stent fitted last year. Anyone else on here had both colon and kidney done at same time who could reassure me?

  • Mine is a different cancer, but good luck x

  • Hi Bigearsgeoff,

I was searching for someone who had experience with both bowel and kidney cancer at the same time, as my 85 year old wonderful dad is due for a double operation in 8 days time. The very thought is terrifying and keeping me awake at night. I have probably read too much online, but just one operation is a serious risk for someone of 85 with recovery time and complications . I wonder if the surgeons have his best interest at heart scheduling a double operation to remove one kidney and do a bowel resection all at once. Half of me just wants to shout stop, leave him alone as it could cause serious complications and risk his life. Right now he feels fine and none of the tumours have spread.  I was just wondering how you were doing. All the best
