New to forum

hi everyone my name is Shelley I am 43 years old feeling 60. After begging my GP a year ago for an X-ray to find out why I was in so much pain with my shoulder I was passing out I was told no, after 2 visits to my GP and a walk in centre I ended up going to A&E via ambulance. After 8 hours waiting I was given an X-ray which showed a huge shadow in my chest, long story short after an operation to collapse my lung and get biopsy and a month in hospital waiting I was diagnosed with non Hodgkin lymphoma stage two. A line was fitted in my groin and chemo started, I came home for the first time in April then went back in every 21 days for my next cycle, six in total. Each cycle would last 5 days. End of chemo PET showed a lump in my chest surrounded by scar tissue so then it was three weeks of radiotherapy, every day for threee weeks Exhausting. Now after me ringing my lymphoma nurse to chase up my scan they realised they hadn't seen the letter sent by the radiotherapy consultant so I am late having the scan. Scan was done Saturday and I am due results February 15th..

  • Hello Shelleybeth,

Welcome to the forum although I'm sorry that you find yourself needing to be here.

It sounds as though you've been on a real rollercoaster over the last year and I'm not surprised that you feel exhausted. Both mentally, emotionally and physically it's been a tough year for you.

Hopefully the scan results on the 15th will bring positive news. If you feel that you'd like to talk to our team of nurses before your appointment - or indeed afterwards - then they are available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on freephone 0808 800 4040.

Do keep in touch and let us know how you get on at your appointment Shelleybeth.
