Partner diagnosed with Ovarian cancer.

Hi All.

My name is Derek. I am 53 years old and my partner of 10 years was diagnosed just before Christmas. To make matters worse I work in the Netherlands and had to leave two days later. No one has mentioned what stage it is as yet only that it is in Her left ovary and somewhere on Her pelvis. They said that She has a 30% chance of surviving 5 years. She has had a couple of tests that we havnt had the results from and they are having a meeting tomorrow to finalise Her treatment plan. We have been told that She will start Chemotherepy in the next week or so. I obviously have to be strong for Her when I speak to Her on the phone but it is tearing me apart. Sounds selfish. Im not the one with Cancer. Dont know what to feel or what to do.

  • Hi!

So she ain't did chemo before.

Ofc, the side effects will depends on the person. Tbh, I had physical pain, nausea and vomiting, lose of weight, diarrhea, dehydratation, fatigue, loss of appetite. I was throwing up all day, feeling weak, had stomach articulations pain and migraines, constipation (goddamnit it hurts), pain at the injection site and hair loss obviously.

since you still dont know what stage she at, maybe they won't give her like 7 months of chemo y'know.

Just be there for her. It souds cliché but that's it. Be there for her but don't try to avoid the possible-death subject. It personnally pisses me off when people do that. If she wanna talk about it, talk about it. She needs to anyway. Death is scary. dont just go and talk about random *** like nothing's happening.

    I hope she'll be fine :(

  • Thank you Jennie.

We do know that She will have 3 months of Chemotherepy before they will consider surgery. After that they are not sure.

I do hope that you are on the mend

  • I hope everything'll work out for her

Aw thank you so much I'm fine right now actually!
