breast cancer with my sister together

hello everyone i am 67..i am english but live in germany and was diagnosed with breast cancer on the 14th november ..grade 1 and not aggressive ..i had my operation on the 1st dec and am still carrying one drainage bottle around with me..i have appointments to start radiation in  the middle of january..and then will do a five year course of anti hormones tabs..enough about me..i feel fine and to anyone that is undergoing an operation in the near future ..please dont worry ..i had one pain killer straight after the operation and that wasn't even necessary :) i was in a room with two other ladies one had to have breast amputation ..also no pain and they rebuild straight away if it is your wish..the other lady was bald due to chemo before the operation..both are fine..but hard to believe, my sister foned last week from england and told me she has also been diagnosed with breast cancer grade 3 and malignant..she goes tomorrow for dates for operation..she has exactly the same spot as mine 12:0 clock right breast..she is 61..i am not too sure about the grading and what it means..i was told mine was caught early and not aggressive ..can someone enlighten me a little more for both myself and my sister ..thank you

  • Hello glenmo,

I'm sorry to hear both you and your sister have both been diagnosed with breast cancer but I'm glad to hear that your operation went well and your recovery is going well too. I have found some information about breast cancer staging here and here that explains how it works but feel free to ask our cancer nurses any questions you may have about this as well.

Many members on the forum have also been diagnosed with different stages of breast cancer and hopefully they will post soon to share their experiences with you.

Do come back and keep us updated on your journery Glenmo.

Best wishes to you and your sister,
