Small gastric gist

Hello

A small gastric gist was found incidentally after an endoscopy. Have also had an Eus which confirmed it was 1cm in size, MDT at local hospital want to leave me be and see me in two years time!!  Was wondering about other people's experience's? Surely finding it at this stage is the best time to remove it? I will be getting referred to nearest gist specialist as from my little knowledge of it, i believe alot of doctors still Di not know alot about them? My biopsy results showed gastritis and metsplasia.

Any help would be appreciated

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Steaky.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation but it's good that you're getting referred to a gist specialist. Hopefully when you see them more of your questions will be answered but in the meantime I have found some general information about gists on our website here if you want to find out more about them. Also, our cancer nurses may be able to help as well. You can chat to them about your diagnosis on 0808 800 4040 (which is free to call from a UK landline), Monday - Friday bewteen 9a.m-5p.m.

Do come back and let us know how your appointment goes with the gist specialist.

    Kind Regards,
