This is my first post

I am 63 years old and just been diagnosed with ovarian cancer inoperable. I am waiting for a biopsy in three weeks time to see if this type of cancer can take chemotherapy.

Would love to hear from others.

  • Good morning Nicky,

Welcome to this friendly forum. I think nearly everyone on here finds the waiting to tests  ect one of the worst times for you dont know and the not knowing leads our brain to speculate and it always seems to assume the worst. I think its our minds way of preparing us for bad news .

But it could be good news and things might not be as bad as we think. So I hope you get good news when you get your biopsy done. Sending kind thoughts your way, Brian.

  • Hiya Nicky, I'm also a Nicky. As Brian says welcome to the forum, I've been here a week or so and already got a great deal of comfort / reassurance from others on here. I went in to have an ovarian cyst removed on the 17th Oct, they did a biopsy while they were on, my tumour marker test was very low and smear were clear so I wasn't expecting anymore treatment. Unfortunately the biopsy came back last week positive for endometrial cancer. I'm in on the 24th for a total hysterectomy and removal of the other ovary/tube, they took the first one with the cyst. Its been a rollercoaster ride so far, test after test and the waiting is just frustrating. Initially my main concern was that I wouldn't be able to have children (I'm 40 and always put my career and life in general first) that is however something I've come to terms with. It took a while as both my sister and best friend have recently had a baby, I'm surrounded!! Anyway, side-tracking, Once I've had my second op they'll stage it and I'll know if I need chemo etc. Its a scary time but I've always been a glass half full kind of girl so until they tell me otherwise I'm gonna 'kick its ***'. I'm already planning my post cancer challenge lol. I wish you well on your journey, let us know how you get on, sending positive vibes and big virtual hugs
