to scared to talk to anyone about it

  • Hi Peter. Yes, it is scary and all the staff know this so are very experienced in supporting you. I found that getting the chemotherapy was ok, you get used to the routine. You're surrounded by others going through the same thing so you don't feel alone.

Best advice I can give is to take good care of yourself between treatments. Eat as well as you can, walk a little every day, stay away from crowded places where you could pick up a cold, take your temperature often, rest when you feel you need to. Ask for help from family or friends with shopping, housework etc.

All the best and keep chatting on this site if you want to offload or see what others in your position are saying.

  • Hi Peter,

My brother in law had chemo for prostate cancer and he sailed though it without any major problems. He was much like you prior to the treatment begining. The only problem was the little hair he did have disapeared but came back afterwards. In my time on here, I have found some people are more tolerant of chemo than others.  With regard to you worry, I think that you may surprise yourself how strong you are once treatment has started. Wiating for treatment, test results or scans are always the worst time for it gives us time to think and we always seem to assume the worst.

If it helps, I am more than willing to talk to you Peter if you think that will help.

Sending best wishes and kind thoughts your way, Brian.

  • Hello Peter

what your going through is scarey. I cant help regarding chemo as I can't have it due to cirrhosis but Woodworm will hopefully reply & the many others who have had chemo.

    Take care
